A safe future starts now! – Safe-by-Design a part of the environmental policy from the government of the Netherlands
The Safe-by-Design website, an initiative from the Netherlands, present the concept and how it forms part of the government’s environmental policy. Safe-by-Design is about including safety at the earliest possible stage of product and process development. The intention is to prevent environmental risks and to ensure a clean, healthy and safe living environment.
Particularly important areas where such an approach can be beneficial have been identified and include the development of chemicals, nanotechnology, biotechnology and (petro)chemical industry. The initiative targets companies, as well as academia with education and research.
