Request for a scientific opinion on the safety of titanium dioxide in cosmetic products
The European Commission’s Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) is requested to provide an opinion on the safety of titanium dioxide in cosmetic products. This comes in light of the EFSA opinion on the potential genotoxicity of the titanium dioxide when used as food additive. The SCCS approved this mandate in the plenary meeting on 21-22 June 2022, with a deadline of 9 months. You can read more here.
